PSF - I Got Your Back

I am a small and precious child, my dads been sent to fight...
The only place I'll see his face, is in my dreams at night.
He will be gone too many days for my young mind to keep track.
I may be sad, but I am proud. My daddy's got your back.

I am a caring mother. My son has gone to war...
My mind is filled with worries that I have never known before.
Every day I try to keep my thoughts from turning black.
I may be scared, but I am proud. My son has got your back.

I am a strong and loving wife, with a husband who had to go.
There are times I'm terrified in a way most never know.
I bite my lip, and force a smile as I watch my husband pack...
My heart may break, but I am proud. My husband's got your back...

I am a soldier... Serving Proudly, standing tall.
I fight for freedom, yours and mine by answering this call.
I do my job while knowing, the thanks it sometimes lacks.
Say a prayer that I'll come home.

It's me who's got your back.

WW - Cant Keep Her Feet on the Ground

I can not take credit for the photo my friend Michelle is the one who took this picture Im sure it was fluke that she got this exact picture but it is probably my favorite picture of my youngest. This picture captures her perfectly as she is never sitting still she is always on the go most days gravity is the only thing that keeps her feet on the ground and Im sure one day she will find a way around that too.

Weekend Recap

This weekend just seemed to fly by. I guess thats a good thing the faster the days fly by the faster it will be til My Favorite Soldier comes home and boy oh boy do we miss him!

On Friday we went to Michelle's to have a Super Silly Dinner you can read about our dinner here. The kids had a great time even if they were a little confused but thats all part of the dinner experience.

On Saturday Amber, Michelle and I took a trip to Springfield to do some shopping and on the way there Amber saw a sign for a pumpkin patch so we decided to stop in and check it out. The kids had a great time we picked out a few good pumpkins for carving next weekend, the kids played in the hay maze, and we went on a hayride. We all had left our cameras at home only expecting to go shopping, thank goodness we all have camera phones so we still managed to get some pictures.

The kids and I before leaving on the hayride.

I managed to get all three kids to sit still long enough to get a picture thats never easy to do!

Today I plan to do NOTHING its gonna be a day of veggin out watching tv. Ok, ok so I wont be able to do nothing all day, I will still have to cook and do some laundry so we have clothes to wear next week but other than that my plan is to do nothing and so far I'm right on track!

I Wish Someone Would Have Told Me ...

Its time for mamakats writing assignment again this week I choose prompt #2 Begin with “I wish someone told me…”

I wish someone told me ...

That taking Home EC in school was not even close to the day to day life of a wife & mother.

That all those hours of headaches and frustration I spent over my algebra homework that I just never got would end up serving no further purpose in my life except to torment my teenage years.

That missing my Prom was going to be a bigger deal than I thought it would be.

That by saying those two little words "I DO" would change everything and be the beginning of an adventure more exciting than anything I could have imagined.

That 2 pink lines would be the scariest and the happiest thing I've seen in my whole life.

That the emotions those 2 pink lines created were nothing compared to holding my child for the first time.

That sending my husband off to war would be a reality I would face in my life time.

That UH-OH coming out the mouth of a 3 year old is NEVER a good thing.

That 13 years later I'd be MORE in love with my husband.

That MOTHERHOOD not the Peace Corps is REALLY the toughest job you'll ever love.

**UPDATE**

Last night I wrote about Jane Doe if you haven't read that post you can read it here. I wish I had better news to this mystery but I don't.

Today on the news they announced that Jane Doe had been found stabbed to death in an abandoned house about an hour AWAY from me and my little neighborhood. They have a suspect in custody but aren't releasing many of the details of the crime due to the on going investigation.

This story didn't have a happy ending please keep her family in your prayers.

WW - Is It Love?

This is Megan and Michelle's son Korbin these two are so sweet together most of the time. We have tons of pictures of these two together in some sweet pose or another. On this particular day we were taking family pictures at our local park, Korbin and Megan decided that they were bored of watching everyone else get their pictures take so they had to go be all sweet so we would once again turn our attention and more importantly our cameras on them. When I see this picture aside from going AWWW aren't they sweet I always joke with Michelle that we are going to be related for real one day.

Talk About a Manic Monday

So Monday started off on a good note I had the day off the two older ones still had school so it was just me and Megan at home we took brother and sister to school then went and did some window shopping and headed home for some lunch and I was hoping a nap.
We get home My Favorite Soldier calls woohoo my day was going great. Then a little later I get a knock on my door I answer it and there are 2 men on my porch one is standing off to the side of my door and one is standing at the bottom of steps. I was a little weirded out but not like I was a few minutes later.
The man standing off to the side of the door introduced him self as Agent Boone from CID (CID is the Army's version of the FBI) I was like umm ok I knew that nothing was wrong with my hubby cause we had just talked so I was confused. They proceeded to ask me if the cops had just been here No why would they be I asked? Then they said they were investigating a missing persons and did I know a Jane Doe I was like no sorry doesn't ring any bells, then they asked me if I saw green VW bug driving up and down my road again I was like umm don't think so but I dont really pay any attention to that. (Guess I should start huh) They thanked me for my time and I shut and LOCKED my door I knew very well they wouldn't be knocking on my door for no good reason. I peek out my window and see them going house to house knocking on the doors asking what I assume are the same ones I was just asked. So I called Amber and Michelle to tell them what just happened Michelle and I start concocting up a story of what might have happened.
A little later I was laying down with Megan and was sure I was gonna get a nap when theres a knock at my door again. Surprise Surprise its Agent Boone and side kick again asking me more questions. Did I notice any unusual activity last night between 8 - 12 no I said. Did I hear anything unusual maybe gun shots? UMMMM NO they took down my information and started to leave I asked if I should be worried and they told if they found anything dangerous they would let me know. They never came back so I guess all is safe.
So earlier today there was a knock on the door I answered it and there stood the Sheriff first off let me say this: it was a bad time I had 3 kids all wanting something different from me, I was so not in the mood for any more questions about something that totally freaked me out I looked at him and said what now? He looked really confused and said I was hoping I could count on your vote this election day. First let me say I felt like an idiot then it was kind of funny then later it was hysterical.

Please pray for Jane Doe and her family if she has one that this has a happy ending

HH6 Needs a Break

Dear Sirs;

Please excuse my soldier from the rest of the deployment he is currently on. Household 6 currently needs him for more important tasks at home. HH6 needs his superior leadership skills to help whip the army brats currently on assignment to our little outpost into shape. HH6 also requires his outstanding navagation skills to find the miriad of things that the above mentioned army brats have lost. HH6 also needs his linguist skills to figure out what the heck these "army brats" are talking about half the time. HH6 also REQUIRES the softer side of him that you rarely allow him time for like hugs and kisses, bed time stories, evening walks, trips to the playground, hand holding, and just being together.

Thank you for time and consideration into this matter,

His wife or better known to you as HouseHold 6

Monday mission brought to you by painted maypole.

New Look

Yesterday while I was enjoying a nothing to do Sunday I came across Mrs Bliss new layout on her blog and I loved it! She was so kind as to give us the link to Simply Fabulous Blogger Templates.
I have been wanting a new layout for my blog and I found TONS of them here and they're FREE!! So now when I need a change I know where to go to get a new layout. Aside from having to redo my side bars it was SUPER EASY and I mean that cause I am soooooooooo NOT computer smart and I figured it out all on my own ... ok well I read the directions on the tutorials and figured it out. I am SOOOOOO proud of my self! What do you think?

Tale of a 6th Grade Christmas

The writing prompt I choose this week from mamakat was to Write about a memory related to a holiday and boy do I remember this holiday well!

Christmas morning started off like every morning does ... 3 excited kids up as soon as the light filled our rooms running to the living room to see what "Santa" brought us. As we got to the living room it was still pretty dark (mainly due to the thick curtains my mom had at the time) the lights from the tree were twinkling, and for a few seconds I remember thinking that this was my favorite part of Christmas. Then we saw what Santa left.

There in front of the TV were 2 identical bikes with my brother and sisters name on them and for a minute I was very upset "where's mine?" I said. I heard my mom say to my dad she doesnt see it yet in laughing voice. I started to scan the room and there it was the coolest, bestest Christmas present I had ever got, a brand new stereo!! You remember the ones with the wooden stands that had a record player, radio, and tape deck it was beautiful and it was all mine! I was so excited I think I let "Santa" know that I was VERY VERY happy with my gift.

After all the presents were opened I moved my stereo to my room that I shared at the time with my sister and found the perfect spot for it and instructed my sister that if I caught her grubby paws on it I would have to hurt her. (yeah yeah I was that kind of big sister but in my defense she was always breaking my stuff.)

The day wore on and we were all doing this and that trying to avoid the kitchen so mom wouldnt make us help cook dinner. I remember I left my room just to get a drink and I got picked to set the table, while I was setting the table mom was pulling out the turkey for some reason I guess she thought a 20 pound turkey in an aluminum baking pan was a good idea ... can you see where I'm going with this? Thats right the aluminum pan bent in the middle and all that hot turkey juice spilled over the sides and landed on my moms foot some how I have no idea how she didnt drop the turkey but she screamed and everyone in the house ran into the kitchen to see what happened. We didnt really understand at the time that my mom was really hurt we thought geez just wipe it off and lets eat already (I know we were some sensitive kids) we figured if she was really hurt dad would take her to the hospital who knew about insurance and stuff ... not me ... appearantly we didnt have any back then. I remember my dad coming out to finish up supper and mom finally came limping out of her room a little bit later and we had Christmas dinner.

I remember my moms foot not healing for the longest time and every year my mom still calls to remind us NOT to use aluminum baking pans to cook our turkeys in just in case we forgot that Christmas. Not likely!

Writers Workshop

Mamakats Assignment: Write about a time you hid from someone, or a time you disguised who you really were.

Moms Need A Break Too!

It started off as me the mom needing a 5 minute break from the kids, so I quietly slipped up stairs to my room after dinner. There was only one small flaw in my plan, I have 4 kids and the thought that I wouldn't be missed for 5 whole minutes was absurd.

So when I heard the familiar sound of my oldest hollering "mom, mom where are you?" did the idea to slide off my bed and hide between the bed and the wall come in. If they just peeked their heads into my room they wouldn't see me but if they walked in they would find me. AAH worked like a charm I heard my oldest at the door say "Mom ... you're not in here? He was very confused I had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing out loud and giving away my position. I was sure he was going to walk in the room and I'd be discovered but he didn't. I stayed on the floor for a few minutes before I decided why not go with it. I jumped up grabbed a pillow and a magazine and laid back down on the floor.

It took my husband calling me on my phone to find out where the heck I was cause the kids were panicking cause they couldn't find me. **Note to self leave the darn thing downstairs next time I want 5 minutes of peace.** Don't worry I didn't leave them completely unattended my husband was down stairs doing the dishes.

I did however manage to get in a full 20 minutes of reading time even if I did have to hide to get it but sometimes moms need a break too!

Don't let thier cute smiling faces fool you they know exactly what thier doing!
